Characteristics of international logistics

1. Environmental differences

The variance in the logistics environment in each country, particularly the difference in the logistics soft environment, is a significant feature of international logistics. For starters, different countries' logistics applicable rules make international logistics considerably more complex than domestic logistics, which might even stymie international logistics. Furthermore, the different economic and technological development levels of different countries will result in international logistics in different scientific and technological conditions under support, and even some regions simply cannot apply certain technologies, forcing the level of the entire international logistics system to decline. Furthermore, varied standards in different nations complicate international "convergence," making it difficult to develop multinational logistics networks. Further, the customs and humanities of different countries also make international logistics subject to great limitations.

Because of the differences in the logistical environment, an international logistics system must function under several distinct laws, cultures, customs, languages, technology, and facilities, which will raise the difficulty of logistics and the system's complexity.

2. A diverse range of systems

The functional parts of logistics are complicated, as is the communication between the system and the outside world, and international logistics adds factors from different countries to this complex system. Not only is the geographical and physical breadth, as well as the internal and external forces involved, greater, the time required longer, but the direct result of the wide range is an increase in difficulty, complexity, and risk.

Of course, once international logistics is included in modern system technology, the effect is more profound than previously. For example, the opening of a "continental bridge", once the speed of international logistics is multiplied, will result in enormous benefits.

3. The standardization standards are stringent

Unified standards are critical to the successful operation of multinational logistics. It is possible to argue that if there is no consistent standard, the level of international logistics is low. The United States and Europe have essentially reached a single standard of logistics tools and facilities, such as pallets with 1000 1200 mm dimensions, various common container requirements, and barcode technology, among other things. This has significantly decreased logistics costs and the difficulties of transshipment. And not to this country's standard, in transit, change the bottom of the car and many other elements to spend more time and money, diminishing its worldwide competitiveness.

In logistics information transfer technology, European countries realize not only standardization within enterprises, but also standardization between enterprises and the European unified market, making the system between European countries simpler and more effective than its exchange with Asian and African countries.

4. Support for internationalized information systems

An internationalized information system is a critical support tool for international logistics, particularly international intermodal transport. The first barrier to establishing multinational information systems is administration; the second is the large cost. Because some regions of the world have a higher level of logistical information than others, there will be an uneven level of information, making the construction of information systems more challenging.

A better way to establish the current international logistics information system is to connect it with the public information system of each country's customs, so that each port, airport, and intermodal lines and station can grasp the current situation in time to provide support for supply or sales logistics decisions. International logistics was the first use of "electronic data interchange" (EDI) in the sector, and EDI-based international logistics will have a big impact on logistics' internationalization.
