History of British Airways

In 1924, the predecessor of British Airways, Imperial Airways, was established to operate routes to the east of the United Kingdom, and several subsidiaries were subsequently established, including British Overseas Airways (BOAC, founded in 1936) and British European Airways (BEA, founded in 1946).

In 1974, British Overseas Airways and British European Airways and their associated companies merged to form British Airways, which was established in April 1974 as the national airline of the United Kingdom.

In 1976, British Airways introduced the world's fastest civilian airliner, the Concorde, and was one of two airlines in the world to have owned a Concorde supersonic airliner.

British Airways has been privatized since 1987. In 1999, British Airways formed the Oneworld alliance with American Airlines, the former Canadian Airlines (now acquired by Air Canada), Cathay Pacific Airways, and Qantas Airways.

In 2006, British Airways was voted World Airline of the Year by Skytrax. The £4.3 billion, 250-hectare Terminal 5 at London Heathrow International Airport was opened by Queen Elizabeth II on March 14, 2008, and opened to passengers on March 27, 2008.

In addition, our company has air freight to London, if you want more information on your side, please contact us.

Currently, not all British Airways flights use Terminal 5, with flights to Bangkok, Singapore, and Sydney using Terminal 4.

On July 6, 2022, British Airways announced that it would cut a further 10,300 short-haul flights by the end of October.
